Carbide cutters, drill reamers or drill rasps as otherwise known, are used as part of the tyre repair process and are designed to clean the hole made by the object that made the puncture.

When repairing a tyre to British Standard BS AU 159, the correct process is not only to patch the hole but to also fill the hole with filler material. In order to do so requires the hole to be cleaned and sized to match the filler material.The Carbide Cutters are normally mounted into a drill or die grinder and used to drill the hole to the desired size.

A 10mm Carbide Cutter is used on heavy commercial truck and bus tyres.
