3/4″ Drive Impact Sockets are designed to have a much wider wall thickness (upto 50% thicker) when compared to standard hand tool sockets.
The increased thickness associated to impacts sockets makes the tools much more suitable for use with pneumatic impact tools. Standard tool sockets will invariably crack in the corners of the socket where the metal is at it thinnest, due to impact and vibrations created by impact tools during use.
Our 3/4″ Drive Impact Sockets are also constructed using chrome molybdenum steel which is a more ductile material that adds additional elasticity and rebound to the socket, making the socket much more robust and longer lasting when used on impact tools.
Standard tool sockets are generally produces using chrome vanadium steel, which is strong but also more brittle, making them prone to cracking at the weakest spots when exposed to repeated shock and vibration associated to impact tools.
